Seismic interferometry for passive and exploration data
Proceedings of the 8th SEGJ International Symposium, 2006Exact Green’s function representations for seismic interferometry are based on the assumption that the receivers used in the correlation process are surrounded by a closed surface of sources. We investigate two situations for which this condition is not fulfilled: sources only in the subsurface, as in passive seismics, and sources only at the surface ...

Past, Present, and Future of Seismic Interferometry
Proceedings, 2014I give an overview of the long history in of seismic interferometry, starting with Einstein's work in 1906 on Brownian motion, through developments in physics in the 1950's to the surge in seismic interferometry in 2000's. I indicate the possibilities and limitations of the method, and pose a number of challenges.

Seismic interferometry and non-linear tomography
2015Seismic records contain information that allows geoscientists to make inferences about the structure and properties of the Earth’s interior. Traditionally, seismic imaging and tomography methods require wavefields to be generated and recorded by identifiable sources and receivers, and use these directly-recorded signals to create models of the Earth’s ...

Global-scale seismic interferometry
2018Applying seismic reflection imaging on a global scale is hard due to the (locally) sparse source distribution. We approach this problem with seismic interferometry (SI). In this paper, we derive an expression for global-scale SI and test it on a simplified 2D acoustic lossless Earth model. When we use responses from sources placed all around the model,

Applications of Seismic Interferometry in Microseismic Monitoring
2016Microseismic monitoring involves the acquisition of continuous seismic data for the purpose of locating and characterizing microseismicity induced mainly by oilfield completion and production processes. Since its inception, microseismic monitoring has proved to be an invaluable tool for understanding underground processes and monitoring subsurface ...
