Numerical Modeling of Geological Fault Reactivation Using Sequential Coupling Strategies

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 11, Page 4339-4359, 10 August 2026.
ABSTRACT The interaction between fluid flow and mechanical deformation in fault zones can lead to processes of fault reactivation, triggering potential geomechanical problems such as seismicity, well collapse, fluid migration to shallower layers, and aggravated surface subsidence.

The Viscoelastic Behaviour of Auxetic Metamaterials

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), Volume 263, Issue 8, August 2026.
Stretch‐only auxetic unit‐cell viscoelastic models are extended from elastic honeycomb and keyway lattices using Maxwell and standard‐linear‐solid representations. Different horizontal and oblique relaxation responses make Poisson's ratio time‐ and frequency‐dependent, enabling tuneable auxetic behaviour for damping and adaptive structures.

Seismic Isolation of the IRIS Nuclear Plant

Volume 8: Seismic Engineering, 2009
The safety-by-design™ approach adopted for the design of the International Reactor Innovative and Secure (IRIS) resulted in the elimination by design of some of the main accident scenarios classically applicable to Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) and to the reduction of either consequences or frequency of the remaining classical at-power accident ...
