Abstract Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) is a subsurface imaging geophysical technique. Traditional ERT inversion methods, such as smoothness‐constrained least‐squares approaches, often suffer from discretization artifacts when reconstructing electrical resistivity from resistance measurements.
