Mesozoic–Cenozoic Thermochronology of the Tarim–Southern Tianshan System, NW China
Tectonothermal history of the Tarim–Southern Tianshan system compared with the major tectonic events at far‐field plate margins. ABSTRACT The Tarim Basin, an oil‐bearing basin in northwest China, is tectonically and sedimentologically linked to the Southern Tianshan Orogenic Belt.

A Parallelized 3D Geomechanical Solver for Fluid‐Induced Fault Slip in Poroelastic Media
ABSTRACT We present a fully implicit formulation of coupled fluid flow and geomechanics for fluid injection/withdrawal in fractured reservoirs in the context of CO2$\textrm {CO}_2$ storage. Utilizing a Galerkin finite‐element approach, both flow and poroelasticity equations are discretized on a shared three‐dimensional mesh.

Review Article: Numerical analysis of the seismic behaviour of earth dam [PDF]
The present study concerns analysis of the seismic response of earth dams. The behaviour of both the shell and core of the dam is described using the simple and popular non associated Mohr-Coulomb criterion.

Negative Stiffness Induced and Controlled by Constriction
Structures with negative stiffness can be stabilized by constriction of external displacement. Furthermore, constriction can make a conventional positive stiffness material exhibit negative stiffness, either bidirectional or unidirectional (shown in the figure).

Structural engineers often use deep columns in high seismic areas to reduce drifts, yet this somehow contradicts what is stated in some tests in the sense that even though deep columns may satisfy current seismic provisions, they can suffer premature ...

Effective Width of Floor Systems for Application in Seismic Analysis [PDF]
Effective width coefficients for floor systems have been developed for use in the analysis of frames subjected to lateral seismic loads. The results cover a wide range of the governing nondimensional parameters, and are applicable to floor slabs with ...

ABSTRACT The dynamic nature of small islands being geographically isolated and their perceived connectedness with global networks complicates research attempts to draw general conclusions on whether insularity leads to marginalization or strengthens their resilience for sustainable development.
