Nonlocal Weighted Robust Principal Component Analysis for Seismic Noise Attenuation
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2020Seismic data are usually contaminated by various noises. Noise suppression plays an important role in seismic processing. In this article, we propose a new denoising method based on the nonlocal weighted robust principal component analysis (RPCA). First,

Some interesting seismic noises
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1984, 1984ABSTRACT This paper suggests that the identification of seismic noise increases our ability to evaluate deeper drilling targets. Seismic noise, as illustrated in basic, unstacked data, is shown to contain clues which the seismic processor may use to improve the resolution of the seismic section.

The whisper of the hydrothermal seismic noise at Ischia Island
, 2020This work is devoted to the study of the background seismic noise at Ischia Island. We highlight two persistent independent signals, with dominant frequency peaks in the range 1−2 Hz and 3−4 Hz, respectively.

Hankel Low-Rank Approximation for Seismic Noise Attenuation
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2019The low-rankness property of the Hankel matrix formulated from the clean seismic data corresponding to a few number of linear events has been successively leveraged in many low-rank (LR) approximation methods for seismic data denoising. The common scheme

Seismic Random Noise Attenuation by Applying Multiscale Denoising Convolutional Neural Network
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2022Seismic prospecting is a common method used in oil and gas resource exploration. However, due to the limitations of current collection techniques, seismic records acquired in the field are typically contaminated by severe incoherent noise, which has ...

Seismic Noise Attenuation Using Unsupervised Sparse Feature Learning
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2019Noise attenuation plays an important role in seismic data processing. We propose a novel denoising method for seismic data based on unsupervised sparse feature learning. Our goal is to obtain the identifiable feature of the noisy seismic data and then to

3D S-wave velocity imaging of a subsurface disturbed by mining using ambient seismic noise
Engineering Geology, 2019Seismic interferometry based on ambient seismic noise was used to image the 3D S-wave velocity field of a subsurface disturbed by mining under the geological conditions at the KGHM Rudna copper mine in southwestern Poland.

Wave test seismograms from an Aramco concession area show crisscross patterns of noise which mask the reflections. The criss-cross pattern that follows the arrival of the Rayleigh wave is sometimes very strong and entirely masks any reflections that may be present. This zone is very often referred to as the 'noise cone'.

Seismic noise in an urban environment
, 2020The results of an experiment aimed at identifying the nature of major noise sources within an urban area are described. We found the strongest noise source to be an irrigation pump located adjacent to the geophones.

Biological noise on seismic data
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1993, 1993ABSTRACT The geophysicist increases the resolution of the subsurface by using closely-spaced detectors. Ambient noise becomes more important with the short recording arrays so as to increase the importance of biological noise.
