The application of seismic data with different precision in the determination of seismicity parameters

Acta Seismologica Sinica, 1994
Due to the limitation of the data, theβ value of seismic zones have been determined by the historical seismic data at the present seismic hazard analysis. Because of lacking of historical documents, many moderate historical events were not recorded and the determined seismicity parameters have shown the uncertainty.

Estimation of Seismicity Parameters for India

Seismological Research Letters, 2010
India has long been affected by damaging earthquakes. The recent Khillari (30 September 1993), Jabalpur (22 May 1997), Chamoli (29 March 1999), and Bhuj (26 January 2001) earthquakes have increased awareness of the need for earthquake disaster mitigation in India.

Seismic Source Parameter Ranges

2016
In this chapter there is a description of the seismic parameter ranges as they are in the mine. Chapter ends with a comparison between natural earthquakes and events experienced in mines. Here I have included some estimates of the released energy in a wide seismic magnitude range. Using seismic efficiency concept I have compared the released energy and

Parameter sensitivity analyses in seismic hazard

Acta Seismologica Sinica, 1996
It is stressed in this paper that the seismic hazard analysis is a complex system with multi-parameters and its parameter sensitivity should be studied as a whole. We have inspected the effects of parameters continuing variation on the result and the effects of exceeding probability and upper bound magnitude of potential source on the parameter ...

Seismic ground motion parameter relations

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1978
The relationships among spectral velocity for 0.5 hz and 1.0 hz frequencies, peak ground acceleration, and peak ground velocity of earthquake-induced ground motion are investigated using the horizontal components of motion from 70 California strong-motion records and accounting for event size, source-to-site distance, and geologic conditions at the ...

Quantifying Seismic Source Parameter Uncertainties

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 2011
We use data from a small aperture array in southern California to quantify variations in source parameter estimates at closely spaced stations (distances ranging from ∼7 to 350 m) to provide constraints on parameter uncertainties. Many studies do not consider uncertainties in these estimates even though they can be significant and ...

Seismic Parameters and Their Physical Meaning

2016
This chapter describes the physical meaning of the seismic source parameters. Earthquake source parameters were derived over a long time period in order to get first of all a measure and then a better understanding of them. With time, seismology was introduced to the mines and it was found that there was a lot of similarity between the large ...

Estimation of the of seismic waves parameters

2015
We consider a problem of estimation of the parameters of a seismic signal based on real observed data. For this purpose, we propose a new mathematical model that reduces the task to a nonlinear, nonsmooth, nonconvex minimization problem. Using a special structure of the signal, we also propose a numerical algorithm of finding the solution of the ...

Input parameters for estimating seismic loading

Natural Hazards, 1990
The estimation of seismic loading requires both the featuring of the seismotectonic environment as well as a prognosis of site-specific strong ground-motion parameters. Due to the long recurrence times of larger events, there is a lack of high quality strong motion recordings at many sites.
