Hyperledger Fabric for the (digitalized) lifecycle of construction products: Applied review on fastening technology

open access: yesCivil Engineering Design, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 9-22, March 2025.
Abstract Blockchain technology is a digital decentralized data ledger recording transactions in an encrypted format. Its implementation can potentially hold significant advantages for the built environment, particularly in manufacturing and building product usage aligned with Building Information Modeling (BIM). This paradigm shift toward decentralized

Blasting effects of cross‐fault deep‐buried excavation on adjacent existing tunnel stability

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Based on the theoretical analysis of cylindrical wave propagation in a deep rock mass in the fault with a filling layer, the calculation method of peak particle velocity caused by wave propagation in the existing tunnel is established. The viscoelastic characteristics of a rock mass are examined in the analysis.

Seismic Performance Target and Fragility of Masonry Infilled RC Frames under In-Plane Loading

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
Masonry infilled RC frames are one of the most common structural forms, the damage of which, in earthquake events, usually cause serious losses. The determination of the seismic performance target is the key foundation of performance-based seismic ...

Performance based seismic design

open access: yesBulletin of the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering, 2000
One of the major developments in seismic design over the past 10 years has been increased emphasis on limit states design, now generally termed Performance Based Engineering. Three techniques - the capacity spectrum approach, the N2 method and direct displacement-based design have now matured to the stage where seismic assessment of existing structures,

Seismic performance of Chilean concentrically braced frame industrial structures: effects of recent code modifications

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2023
Few seismic design codes for industrial structures exist worldwide. Among them, the Chilean design code was put to the test by the Maule earthquake of 2010, one of the largest seismic events in recent years. Although the seismic performance of industrial

Form and load transfer aspects of foundation systems: Case‐based implementation and adaptation for buildings

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Upon conceptualization of structural behavior, foundations in terms of their form are divided into linear (1D), planar (2D), and volumetric (3D). Regarding the load transfer mechanisms, linear foundation systems are considered vector‐acting, planar foundations are divided into section and surface‐acting, and volumetric ones are recognized as block ...
