Seismicity Processes in the Charlevoix Seismic Zone, Eastern Canada [PDF]
The Charlevoix Seismic Zone (CSZ) is the most seismically active region in eastern Canada, based on the historical and current rate of activity. Several papers contend that the current seismicity in the CSZ represents long-lived aftershock sequences of the 1663 M~7 earthquake, in which the aftershock activity has persisted for hundreds of years.

Laser Stabilized to a Fiber Interferometer With Close‐To‐Zero Temperature Sensitivity
A laser stabilized to a hollow‐core fibre interferometer is presented. The interferometer is designed to have near‐zero temperature phase‐sensitivity. Laser stabilized to this interferometer put in a non‐vacuum environment achieves ±550 kHz frequency variation over 100 h and an Allan deviation of 2 × 10−14τ, which is comparable to miniature ULE ...

Negative Stiffness Induced and Controlled by Constriction
Structures with negative stiffness can be stabilized by constriction of external displacement. Furthermore, constriction can make a conventional positive stiffness material exhibit negative stiffness, either bidirectional or unidirectional (shown in the figure).

Strategies for Assessing Post‐Wildfire Geomorphic Resilience in Semiarid Rivers
ABSTRACT We review and summarize diverse components of a catchment that can be monitored after wildfire to assess the geomorphic resilience of the river corridor in semiarid regions. We distinguish upland portions of river catchments from river corridors.
