Seismic Resilience of Deteriorating Concrete Structures

open access: yesStructures Congress 2015, 2015
A probabilistic approach to lifetime assessment of seismic resilience of concrete structures under corrosion is presented. The seismic capacity is assumed as time-variant functionality indicator and the seismic resilience is evaluated based on a suitable analytical representation of the functionality recovery profile.

Seismic resilience of concrete structures under corrosion [PDF]

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics, 2015
A probabilistic approach to lifetime assessment of seismic resilience of deteriorating concrete structures is presented. The effects of environmental damage on the seismic performance are evaluated by means of a methodology for lifetime assessment of ...

Seismic resilience of bridges and highway networks

open access: yes, 2015
Road infrastructure networks play an important role in the emergency response to seismic events and related hazards, to ensure both a quick deployment of aids and resources to distressed communities and a prompt repair of the surrounding lifelines and buildings.

From slope seismic resilience to regional road network resilience: an integrated framework for evaluating the seismic resilience of mountainous road networks

Disaster Prevention and Resilience, 2023
A systematic review was conducted, ranging from the seismic resilience of single slope engineering structures as disaster-bearing bodies to their transformation into disaster-inducing bodies owing to seismic dynamic instability. The resilience of slopes is considered with regard to regional transportation networks, which are most severely threatened by

Review on seismic resilient bridge structures

Advances in Structural Engineering, 2022
Bridge structures are the important part of lifeline engineering, which are easy to lose their traffic function when subjected to strong earthquakes. Seismic resilient bridge structures are that do not require repair or can be restored to normal operating condition with minor repair after an earthquake, which are mainly characterized by self-centering ...

Seismic resilience of a hospital system

Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, 2010
This paper presents a comprehensive model to quantify disaster resilience of systems that is defined as the capability to sustain functionality and recover from losses generated by extreme events. The model combines loss estimation and recovery models and can be applied to critical facilities (e.g.

Enhancing Seismic Resilience of Water Pipe Networks

Proceedings of the 3rd ACM SIGCAS Conference on Computing and Sustainable Societies, 2020
As disasters such as earthquakes and floods become more frequent and detrimental, it is increasingly important that water infrastructure resilience be strategically enhanced to support post-disaster functionality and recovery. In this paper, we focus on the problem of strategically building seismic-resilient pipe networks to ensure direct water supply ...

Seismic Resilient Outriggers and Multi-hazard Resilient Frames

2021
This chapter firstly introduces the experimental work on the seismic resilient outriggers. It is worthy to mention that as supertall buildings are important landmarks of a modern city, the progressive collapse prevention of the secondary frames of the buildings is also frequently required in addition to the seismic design requirement.

Seismic resilience of retrofitted RC buildings

Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration, 2020
Existing buildings can be at a greater seismic risk due to non-conformance to current design codes and may require structural retrofitting to improve building performance. The performance of buildings is measured in terms of immediate consequences due to direct damage, but the continuing impacts related to recovery are not considered in seismic ...
