A MPM framework for large deformation seismic response analysis [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Geotechnical Journal, 2021
Landslides are often triggered by earthquakes and can cause immense damage due to large mass movements. To model such large-deformation events, the material point method (MPM) has become increasingly popular in recent years.

Seismic response analysis of subway station under obliquely incident SV waves. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep
This paper aims to investigate the dynamic response characteristics of subway station under earthquakes. To this end, seismic waves are transformed into equivalent nodal loads on viscoelastic artificial boundaries using theories and methods of wave ...

Defining the Boundary Conditions for Seismic Response Analysis—A Practical Review of Some Widely-Used Codes

open access: yesGeosciences, 2022
The first step for learning any calculation code for seismic response analysis is an adequate understanding of how to properly set the boundary conditions and the properties of the soil model at the initial stage, i.e., before the shaking event.

Methodology of seismic-response-correlation-coefficient calculation for seismic probabilistic safety assessment of multi-unit nuclear power plants

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2021
In 2011, an earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, causing simultaneous accidents in several reactors. This accident shows us that if there are several reactors on site, the seismic risk to multiple units is ...

Fundamental study on seismic response of escalator (Seismic response analysis using SDOF escalator model)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
The escalator is one of most important vertical transportation measures to connect each every one of storey-layers in buildings. During severe earthquakes, escalators are not only shaken by themselves, but withstand lateral relative deflexions induced in

关于抗震防灾的若干思考

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2022

An Analytical Method for Elastic Seismic Response of Structures Considering the Effect of Ground Motion Duration

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The response to earthquake ground motion is composed of three basic elements, namely, amplitude, frequency, and duration. The seismic response of a structure is controlled by the particular combination of these three elements.

Nonlinear Stochastic Seismic Response Analysis of Three-Dimensional Reinforced Concrete Piles

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
A reliable assessment and design of engineering structures requires appropriate estimation and consideration of different sources of uncertainty. The randomness of seismic ground motion is one major uncertainty that needs to be considered from the ...
