Seismic sedimentology: Concepts and challenges

In Changling area, the signal to noise ratio of the seismic data is low and the sand body distribution in lateral lithologic reservoir changes fast. Seismic Stratigraphy and Sedimentology of Mississippi Fan: ABSTRACT

Eight seismic reflectors within the Pleistocene Mississippi fan, Gulf of Mexico, have sufficient areal extent to allow the construction of isopach and structure contour maps. These maps show that the fan was constructed by at least seven elongate fan lobes that moved slightly eastward and basinward with time.

A coherency time slice at 1250 ms, corresponding to a Pleistocene surface at approximately 4000 ft. below sea level, from the South Marsh Island area of the Gulf of Mexico displays a complex system of channels which in part are similar to the channel system of the present Mississippi Delta.
