Joint Seismic and Electrical Tomography
Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems 1997, 1997Seismic and electrical properties in the earth are not directly associated with each other. If a large seismic velocity contrast occurs across a geological interface, certain change of the corresponding electrical properties may also take place, but not necessarily.

Application of seismic tomography to induced seismicity investigations
Proceedings of Rock Mechanics in Petroleum Engineering, 1994Abstract Two case studies are presented, which highlight the potential application of seismic velocity imaging to induced seismicity investigations. Velocity images may be produced using data currently recorded with seismic monitoring arrays.

Downscaling seismic tomography models
2021
Seismic imaging techniques such as elastic full waveform inversion (FWI) have their spatial resolution limited by the maximum frequency present in the observed waveforms. Scales smaller than a fraction of the minimum wavelength cannot be resolved, only a smoothed version of the true underlying medium can be recovered.

Seismic Tomography of Macedonia
2020
A novel geotomography technique has been applied in and around Macedonia using selected earthquakes that occurred over a period of 40 years and were recorded on 47 seismograph stations. The aim was to test this new tomography method for the first time in investigation of the crustal shape and structures in that specific ...

Manual seismic reflection tomography
GEOPHYSICS, 1999Prestack depth migration needs a good velocity model to produce a good image; in fact, finding the velocity model is one of the goals of prestack depth migration. Migration velocity analysis uses information produced by the migration to update the current velocity model for use in the next migration iteration.

The main breakthrough in seismology during the last ten years is related to the emergence and development of more and more sophisticated 3-dimensional imaging techniques, usually named seismic tomography, from the local scale up to global scale of the Earth.

Global seismic tomography: the inverse problem and beyond
Inverse Problems, 1998Global seismic tomography has produced a great amount of robust information concerning the three-dimensional extent of the Earth's internal structure. This has stimulated a multidisciplinary discussion aimed at understanding the mechanisms which govern the internal evolution of our planet.

Seismic Reflection Diffraction Tomography
Journal of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics, 1996Geophysical diffraction tomography (GDT) is a quantitative technique for highâresolution subsurface imaging. GDT images are reconstructed by propagating waves from an array of receivers back into the host formation to map spatial variations of the refractive index.
