Abstract The implementation of seismic risk management is becoming increasingly important all over the world, and especially in East-Asia as the structures aging surpass. In this context, three existing reinforced concrete buildings located in Malaysia have been selected for seismic vulnerability assessment.

This paper presents a uniform framework for seismic vulnerability assessment of selected reinforced concrete (RC) structures in Malaysia based on an improved seismic vulnerability index (SVI) approach. To establish the formulated framework, three stages of validation are applied to two reference buildings damaged during the 2015 Ranau seismic event in ...

The seismic vulnerability index (Kg) is a parameter that depends on the dynamic properties of soil. With this parameter, it is possible to evaluate the vulnerability of a point-based site under strong ground motion. Since it is related to the natural vibration period and amplification factor, the parameter can be calculated for both soil and structure.

Abstract In this paper the Italian CNR-GNDT vulnerability index for masonry buildings was modified to apply in confined masonry buildings and to obtain a reasonable relationship with the wall density per unit floor index. With this purpose, a sample of twenty-four confined masonry buildings with three and four storeys built during the last twenty ...

Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, 2016
The seismic vulnerability assessment of old masonry buildings is essential not only to buildings with recognised historical and heritage value but also to ordinary residential masonry buildings. Thus, and resorting a wide set of damage data collected after the 1998 Azores earthquake, this paper addresses the topic of the seismic vulnerability ...
