The EU's Strategy for Sustainability: A Landmark Turn With the European Green Deal?
ABSTRACT While the European Green Deal (EGD) has been widely recognized as a milestone in the EU's sustainability strategy, scholars disagree on the nature of the policy change it represents. Critics highlight its limited social and environmental ambitions, despite its portrayal as a “man on the moon” moment.

Magneto-seismic interpretation of subsurface volcanism in the Gaeta Gulf (Italy, Tyrrhenian Sea)
The occurrence of a former subaerial volcanic edifice off the Volturno River (Tyrrhenian Sea, Gulf of Gaeta) in the 41°N parallel is suggested by joint interpretation of multichannel seismic lines and ship-borne magnetic data.

Aspects of high resolution marine seismics
Reflection seismic methods, widely used in the oil-exploration, can give detailed images of the earth's interior. Application of these methods with strongly enhanced resolution allows detailed imaging of the upper tens of meters of the subsurface ...

Geological characterization of the Dutch Wadden Sea using shallow reflection seismics
Mapping of the Dutch Wadden Sea is a major challenge as it is an intertidal zone and therefore has limited accessibility by surveying vessels. Hence, the current subsurface model of the Dutch Wadden Sea is based on a sparse density of lithological ...

Structural analysis of S-wave seismics around an urban sinkhole: evidence of enhanced dissolution in a strike-slip fault zone [PDF]
In November 2010, a large sinkhole opened up in the urban area of Schmalkalden, Germany. To determine the key factors which benefited the development of this collapse structure and therefore the dissolution, we carried out several shear-wave ...

The 2025 Kamchatka Earthquake and Tsunami: Cascading Impacts and Risks to Japan
ABSTRACT On July 29th, 2025, a large earthquake (Mw 8.8) occurred near the Kamchatka Peninsula. This event caused a tsunami that reached Japan's Pacific coast, even though the source was far away. In this study, we analyze the characteristics of earthquakes and tsunamis and discuss how they relate to the recurrence possibility and risk in Japan.

Geophysical monitoring at the CO2 pilot storage Ketzin comprises time-lapse seismic and geoelectric (ERT) measurements. Both types of measurements are known to image geological structures differently, in particular for a variable saturation of CO2.

ABSTRACT We perform probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) in the Shillong Plateau by clubbing the up‐to‐date earthquake data and seismotectonic properties of the study area. Twenty‐one areal seismic sources are delineated based on the updated earthquake catalog, tectonic, and fault plane solutions.
