Deformation structures in glaciolacustrine deposits of Khibiny and assessment of their seismogenic potential

Seismic Instruments, 2017
Extended horizons of 0.5–2-m-thick soft-sediment deformation structures, which were earlier described as the effects of strong earthquakes in the Late Pleistocene, are studied in glaciolacustrine deposits of the Khibiny massif (central part of the Kola Peninsula).

GEOELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SEISMOGENIC STRUCTURE IN THE BAIKAL PREDICTION TESTING GROUND

Russian Geology and Geophysics, 1993
Geoelectrical characteristics of the upper crust of the southern section in the Baikal prediction testing ground, including the northeastern wing of the Selenga depression, from village of Kudara to village of Kluchi-Stvolovaya on the northeast are given in the paper.

Relocation and seismogenic structure of the 1998 Zhangbei-Shangyi earthquake sequence

Acta Seismologica Sinica, 2002
On January 10, 1998, an earthquake of ML=6.2 occurred in the border region between the Zhangbei County and Shangyi County of Hebei Province. This earthquake has been the most significant event occurred in the northern China in the recent years. Historical seismicity in the Zhangbei-Shangyi region was very low.

The use of local seismic networks for identifying the seismogenic structure of faults

Izvestiya, Physics of the Solid Earth, 2012
We consider a method for identifying the segments of localization of deformation processes within fault zones. The method is based on the results of seismic monitoring at a dense seismic network in California. For the first time, by analyzing the seismogenic structure of several fault zones, we highly accurately located the domains involved in active ...

Seismogenic Structure of the April 20, 2013, Lushan Ms7 Earthquake in Sichuan

Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 2013
Abstract:At 08:02 on April 20, 2013, a Ms7.0 earthquake occurred in Lushan, Ya'an, in the Longmenshan fault zone, Sichuan. The epicenter was located between Taiping Town and Shuangshi Town, Lushan County and the maximum earthquake intensity at the epicenter reached class IX. Field investigations in the epicenter area found that, although buildings were

The aegean region — Seismogenic properties of deep seismically active structures

Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica, 1994
The seismicity depth pattern, seismic energy and b-value depth variation in the Hellenic Wadati-Benioff zone and the overlying continental plate in the Aegean region for the period 1901–1982 are studied separately on the basis of a recent seismotectonic model [1]. The results obtained show that the W and E flanks of the Hellenic Wadati-Benioff zone, as

Subduction system structure and forearc morphology: control on seismogenic rupture

open access: yes, 2011
Improving our understanding of what governs the magnitude, source region and recurrence interval of subduction zone earthquakes constitutes one of the most pressing issues in geosciences today. One of the problems we are facing esults from the fact that
