Earthquake and Tsunami NaTech Risk Assessment for Oil Storage Facilities
ABSTRACT Interaction of natural and technological hazards (NaTech) events, such as tsunamis and earthquakes, can affect industrial facilities such as those featuring anchored atmospheric storage tanks. Consequences of natural events on this kind of installation may include the release of hazardous substances, which in turn can lead to industrial ...

Abstract This study investigates whether hydraulic fracturing contributed to the 2021 Ms 6.0 Luxian earthquake in the Sichuan Basin. Time‐series InSAR analysis of multi‐temporal Sentinel‐1 data reveals coseismic deformation associated with the 2021 Luxian earthquake and localized uplift near hydraulic fracturing platforms.

The structure and composition of exhumed faults, and their implications for seismic processes [PDF]
Field studies of faults exhumed from seismogenic depths provide useful data to constrain seismologic models of fault zone processes and properties. Data collected on the San Andreas Fault in the San Gabriel Mountains has shown that large-displacement ...

Large Trench-Parallel Gravity Variations Predict Seismogenic Behavior in Subduction Zones [PDF]
We demonstrate that great earthquakes occur predominantly in regions with a strongly negative trench-parallel gravity anomaly (TPGA), whereas regions with strongly positive TPGA are relatively aseismic.

Seismogenic fault and area sources for probabilistic seismic hazard model in Slovenia
The Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO) and Geological Survey of Slovenia (GeoZS) jointly developed a new seismic hazard model for the 2021 Slovenian probabilistic seismic hazard assessment (PSHA) in the scope of a seven-year project starting in 2014 ...

Abstract The Tan‐Lu Fault Zone (TLFZ), the largest lithosphere‐scale strike‐slip fault in eastern China, has experienced multiple tectonic stages and remains high seismic activity, including the 1668 Tancheng earthquake (M 8.5). Here we employ dense‐array receiver functions to resolve crustal thickness, Vp/Vs ratio, and seismic discontinuities in the ...

From tomographic images to fault heterogeneities
Local Earthquake Tomography (LET) is a useful tool for imaging lateral heterogeneities in the upper crust. The pattern of P- and S-wave velocity anomalies, in relation to the seismicity distribution along active fault zones.

Abstract Despite decades of study, the detailed geometry of the Connector fault at the Alaska–Canada border remains poorly constrained. We investigate the rupture complexity and directivity of the 6 December 2025, Mw 7.0 Hubbard Glacier earthquake using hypocenter relocations, moment tensor inversions of the mainshock and aftershocks, and finite‐fault ...
