Anatomically preserved lycophytes of the Lycopodiales and Selaginellales have been discovered among a diverse assemblage of plants and fungi in carbonate marine concretions at the Apple Bay locality along the shore of Holbert Inlet near the northern end ...

Is There a Key Primer for Amplification of Core Land Plant DNA Barcode Regions (rbcL and matK)? [PDF]
We use in silico PCR to select and measure the amplification capability of primer. We tested 366 and 489 published primers for the rbcL and matK regions, respectively, using sequences from 8463 different land plant species. Our results indicate a set of primers that effectively cover all land plant sequences, particularly for the rbcL region.

Phylogeny, character evolution, and classification of Selaginellaceae (lycophytes)
Selaginella is the largest and most taxonomically complex genus in lycophytes. The fact that over 750 species are currently treated in a single genus makes Selaginellales/Selaginellaceae unique in pteridophytes.

Lykopodiofity Polski Lycopodiales, Selaginellales, Isoëtales
Lykopodiofity (Lycopodiopsida) to najstarsza współcześnie istniejąca linia roślin waskularnych. Stanowi relikt filogenetyczny, umożliwiający analizę ewolucji procesów zachodzących u roślin lądowych. Monografia Lykopodiofity Polski przedstawia aktualny stan badań nad tą grupą roślin i stanowi obszerne kompendium wiedzy na ich temat. Wprowadza nowoczesne

Evolution of the jasmonate ligands and their biosynthetic pathways
Summary Different plant species employ different jasmonates to activate a conserved signalling pathway in land plants, where (+)‐7‐iso‐JA‐Ile (JA‐Ile) is the ligand for the COI1/JAZ receptor in angiosperms and dn‐cis‐OPDA, dn‐iso‐OPDA and Δ4‐dn‐iso‐OPDA act as ligands in Marchantia polymorpha.

As the earliest diverging group of extant vascular plants, lycophytes are important for determining how traits such as branching, vasculature, shoot indeterminacy, leaves, and roots evolved. In this review, we describe lycophyte phylogeny, morphology, and genetics in the context of land plant evolution and development.

Summary Ferns appear in the fossil record some 200 Myr before angiosperms. However, as angiosperm‐dominated forest canopies emerged in the Cretaceous period there was an explosive diversification of modern (leptosporangiate) ferns, which thrived in low, blue‐enhanced light beneath angiosperm canopies.

Summary Furanocoumarins (FCs) are plant‐specialized metabolites with potent allelochemical properties. The distribution of FCs is scattered with a chemotaxonomical tendency towards four distant families with highly similar FC pathways. The mechanism by which this pathway emerged and spread in plants has not been elucidated.

Summary Hornworts are crucial to understand the phylogeny of early land plants. The emergence of ‘reverse’ U‐to‐C RNA editing accompanying the widespread C‐to‐U RNA editing in plant chloroplasts and mitochondria may be a molecular synapomorphy of a hornwort–tracheophyte clade.
