CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF SELECTED ACORNS

Journal of Food Science, 1971
SUMMARY Acorn varieties within twelve oak species were analyzed for chemical and physical attributes. The kernels were evaluated for moisture, ether extract, crude fiber, ash, crude protein, tannin, nitrogen‐free extract (less tannins), texture and surface color.

Selected Thermo-physical Properties of Rice Bran

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1994
Bran obtained from milling two commercial rice varieties, a long grain (‘Lemont’) and a medium grain (‘Nato’), was used for the determination of thermo-physical properties such as bulk and particle density, porosity, thermal conductivity and diffusivity, and specific heat. The milling of rough rice yielded 7.22% and 7.09% bran for long and medium grain,

Selected Physical Properties

1989
Although most of the physical properties of linear oligopyrroles are mentioned or even used in this book in connection with structural, synthetic, or reactive aspects, it seems to be interesting to summarize selected properties of importance. The first subchapter will deal with the properties of crystalline materials whereas the following subchapters ...

Grinding Performance and Physical Properties of Selected Biomass

2002 Chicago, IL July 28-31, 2002, 2002
Biomass residues such as straws, corn stover and energy crop - switchgrass were ground using a hammer mill with three different screen sizes (3.175 mm, 1.588 mm and 0.794 mm) for densification. Energy required for grinding these materials was measured at two different moisture contents. Among the four materials, switchgrass had the highest specific

Turmeric Powder and Starch: Selected Physical, Physicochemical, and Microstructural Properties

Journal of Food Science, 2011
Abstract:  Turmeric powder and its starch were characterized for physical, physicochemical, and microstructural characteristics. X‐ray diffractogram indicated that turmeric starch to be of B type. Dried and cured‐dried turmeric powder samples showed higher water‐holding capacity (3.62 and 4.78 g/g, respectively)

Physical and optical properties of size‐selective CdTe nanocrystals

physica status solidi c, 2010
AbstractPhysical and optical properties of colloidal cadmium telluride nanocrystals (CdTe NCs) were investigated. The CdTe NCs were synthesized by reacting elemental tellurium dissolved in tributylphosphine with a mixture of cadmium oxide, octadecene, and oleic acid.

Selecting Combinatorial Libraries to Optimize Diversity and Physical Properties

Journal of Chemical Information and Computer Sciences, 1998
The program SELECT is presented for the design of combinatorial libraries. SELECT is based on a genetic algorithm with a multi-objective fitness function. Any number of objectives can be included, provided that they can be readily calculated. Typically, the objectives would be to maximize structural diversity while ensuring that the compounds in the ...
