Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Strategies for Compound Selection

Current Drug Discovery Technologies, 2004
In-house pharmaceutical collections are no longer sufficient for sampling chemical spaces. As novel bioactive chemotypes are successfully identified by virtual and high -throughput screening, the ability to rapidly sift through large numbers of chemicals prior to acquisition or experiment is required.

Understanding strategy selection

International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, 2001
Summary: This paper explores several issues associated with explanations of why different people use different strategies for learning and inference tasks. It is suggested that although the concept of cognitive style is a useful starting point, it is unable to account for many findings in the literature, and that any model of strategy usage that ...

Investigating modality selection strategies

2010 IEEE Spoken Language Technology Workshop, 2010
This paper describes a user study about the influence of efficiency on modality selection (speech vs. virtual keyboard/ speech vs. physical keyboard) and perceived mental effort. Efficiency was varied in terms of interaction steps. Based on previous research it was hypothesized that the number of necessary interaction steps determines the preference ...

Choosing a Model Selection Strategy

Scandinavian Journal of Statistics, 2003
An important problem in statistical practice is the selection of a suitable statistical model. Several model selection strategies are available in the literature, having different asymptotic and small sample properties, depending on the characteristics of the data generating mechanism.

Selective Masking and Processing Strategy

Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
A patterned masking stimulus was presented immediately following a 100-ms exposure of a centrally-fixated, eight-letter row. The bar-marker probe, indicating which letter to report, appeared either at onset (simultaneous cue), or at offset (delayed cue) of a letter row.
