Default definition selection for credit scoring
In this paper some of the main causes of the recent financial crisis are briefly discussed. Specific attention is paid to the accuracy of credit-scoring models used to assess consumer credit risk. As a result, the optimal default definition selection (ODDS) algorithm is proposed to improve credit-scoring for credit risk assessment.

Specialization in the default mode: Task-induced brain deactivations dissociate between visual working memory and attention [PDF]
The idea of an organized mode of brain function that is present as default state and suspended during goal-directed behaviors has recently gained much interest in the study of human brain function.

Distinct subdivisions of human medial parietal cortex support recollection of people and places
Human medial parietal cortex (MPC) is implicated in multiple cognitive processes including memory recall, visual scene processing and navigation, and is a core component of the default mode network.

No “Self” Advantage for Audiovisual Speech Aftereffects
Although the default state of the world is that we see and hear other people talking, there is evidence that seeing and hearing ourselves rather than someone else may lead to visual (i.e., lip-read) or auditory “self” advantages.

Correlates of decisional dynamics in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex. [PDF]
We hypothesized that during binary economic choice, decision makers use the first option they attend as a default to which they compare the second. To test this idea, we recorded activity of neurons in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) of ...

Interrater and intermethod reliability of default mode network selection
AbstractThere has been a growing interest in the neuroimaging community regarding resting state data (i.e., passive mental activity) and the subsequent activation of the so‐called default mode network (DMN). Although this network was originally characterized by a pattern of deactivation during active cognitive states, more recent applications of data ...
