Forced Versus Selective Exposure
Journal of Media Psychology, 2022Abstract. When people use social networking sites, they may be exposed to political content they have chosen (selective exposure) and content they have not chosen (forced exposure). Counter-attitudinal content that people have not chosen can provoke them to resist persuasion by counterarguing and disliking their political opponents.
