Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Mechanism of Semi-Hydrogenation of Trace Acetylene in Ethylene by [MB12Hx]2-

open access: yesTaiyuan Ligong Daxue xuebao
[Purposes] The main problem of semi-hydrogenation of trace acetylene in ethylene is excessive hydrogenation. High concentration of ethylene is the main cause of excessive hydrogenation, so it is important to design a catalyst with acetylene enrichment ...

A remarkable promoting effect of water addition on selective hydrogenation of p-chloronitrobenzene in ethanol

open access: yes, 2007
Selective hydrogenation of p-chloronitrobenzene to p-chloraniline over ruthenium catalyst was found to be promoted remarkably (Selectivity: from 80.4% to 98.6%; TON: from 0.89 x 10(-2) s(-1) to 3.20 x 10(-2) s(-1)) by simply adding some water into the ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Palladium Nanoparticles Supported on Nitrogen-Functionalized Active Carbon: A Stable and Highly Efficient Catalyst for the Selective Hydrogenation of Nitroarenes

open access: yes, 2014
Nitrogen-functionalized active carbon-supported ultrasmall Pd nanoparticles were conveniently prepared by using a postloading method. The Pd catalyst was highly active and selective for the hydrogenation of nitroarenes at room temperature under ambient ...

Affecting the Properties of Copper–Graphene Electroconductive Composite by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging
