Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

When water committee good practices are not relevant: sustainability of small water infrastructures in semi-arid Mozambique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper explores the contradiction between the need of large scale intervention in rural water supply and the needed flexibility to support community institutions by investigating the implementation of the Mozambican National Rural Water Supply and ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Bayesian Model Selection Pruning in Predictive Maintenance

open access: yes
Deep Neural Network architecture design significantly impacts the final model performance. The process of searching for optimal architectures, known as Neural Architecture Search (NAS), involves training and evaluating an important number of models. Therefore, mechanisms to reduce the resources required for NAS are highly valuable. This work proposes a

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Exceptional response to the ATR inhibitor, camonsertib, in a patient with ALT+ metastatic melanoma

open access: yesnpj Precision Oncology
A key hallmark of cancer tumorigenesis is the maintenance of telomere length, which occurs canonically through the reactivation of telomerase. Alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) is an atypical, non-canonical telomere maintenance mechanism that ...

Attentional demand influences strategies for encoding into visual working memory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Visual selective attention and visual working memory (WM) share the same capacity-limited resources. We investigated whether and how participants can cope with a task in which these 2 mechanisms interfere.
