Effects of Herbicides on Selenastrum capricornutum and Daphnia magna

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 1997
The toxicity of five herbicides, Propanil, Machete, Rilof-H, Saturn, and Ronestar, commonly used in Iranian rice fields, were investigated in acute toxicity bioassays on two organisms belonging to different ig dquatic food chain.

Toxic effects of erythromycin, ciprofloxacin and sulfamethoxazole on photosynthetic apparatus in Selenastrum capricornutum

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2011
The effects of three antibiotics (erythromycin, ciprofloxacin and sulfamethoxazole) on photosynthesis process of Selenastrum capricornutum were investigated by determining a battery of parameters including photosynthetic rate, chlorophyll fluorescence, Hill reaction, and ribulose-1.5-bisphosphate carboxylase activity, etc.

Biodiversity Buffers Phytoplankton Biomass Production Against Nanoparticle Pollution Through Increased Facilitation. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Lett
Biodiversity can buffer ecosystems against environmental stressors, yet its role under nanoparticle pollution remains unclear. Using freshwater phytoplankton communities exposed to copper oxide nanoparticles, we show that higher species richness alleviates productivity losses through increased facilitation among species.

Safety of the preparation of monensin sodium (Coxidin®) produced with Streptomyces sp. LMG S-19095 as a coccidiostat for chickens for fattening and chickens reared for laying (Huvepharma N.V.). [PDF]

open access: yesEFSA J
Abstract Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety of monensin sodium (Coxidin®) produced with Streptomyces sp. LMG S‐19095 as a coccidiostat for chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying, turkeys for fattening and turkeys reared for breeding.

Algal extracellular organic matter mediated photocatalytic degradation of estrogens

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2021
Estrogens are among the most concerned emerging contaminants in the wastewater treatment effluent due to their sexual disruption in aquatic wildlife. The use of microalgae for secondary wastewater effluent polishing is a promising approach due to the ...

Adenosine Triphosphate Content of Selenastrum capricornutum [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Microbiology, 1971
The adenosine triphosphate content of Selenastrum capricornutum was maintained within 1.4 to 3.4 μg of adenosine triphosphate/mg (dry weight) of living biomass at different growth stages in media of different phosphorus concentrations.

Surfactant (Genapol OX-80) toxicity to Selenastrum capricornutum [PDF]

open access: yesChemosphere, 2000
A non-ionic surfactant (Genapol OX-80) was proposed as a means of reducing destructive crayfish activity in rice. In order to study the toxicity of this product on algae, a test in accordance to the ISO 8692 protocol (1989) was performed. The growth inhibiting effect of the pure formulation of Genapol OX-80 was studied on Selenastrum capricornutum in ...
