Herein, a naphtho‐tetraoxa[8]circulene (N‐TOC) is introduced, its electrochemical performance is investigated, and its charge‐storage mechanism through aromaticity switching described by computational calculations.

Synthesis and Characterization of π‐Extended Azulenes via Nucleophilic Substitution and Intramolecular Cyclization of 5‐Alkynyl‐6‐Fluoroazulenes

A modular synthetic approach enables the preparation of azulene‐fused heterocycles via nucleophilic aromatic substitution followed by intramolecular cyclization of alkynyl fluoroazulenes. The method allows the incorporation of various heteroatoms (N, O, S, Se, and Te), leading to structurally diverse heteroannulated azulenes.
