Seasonal Dynamics of Soil Multitrophic Biodiversity, Co‐Occurrence Network and Assembly Mechanisms Under Typical Vegetation Restoration Patterns in Karst Region

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Previous studies often overlooked the dynamic effects of karst vegetation restoration on soil multi‐trophic biodiversity and the underlying community‐assembly mechanisms. To fill this gap, we performed a seasonal comparative analysis of soil biodiversity, co‐occurrence network architecture, and assembly processes across three representative ...

DEET‐cyclodextrin inclusion complexes for mosquito and tick repellency: Extended repellency time and no zebrafish embryotoxicity

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Hydroxypropyl‐β‐cyclodextrin (HPβCD)–N,N‐diethyl‐meta‐toluamide (DEET) complex extended tick repellency to 168 h. Full protection against Aedes aegypti for 7 h with HPβCD‐DEET. HPβCD reduced DEET release and skin retention significantly. No embryotoxicity observed below 325 mg L−1 in zebrafish model.

Roll‐to‐Roll Processing of Biodegradable Multilayer Barrier Packaging Structures

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that novel packaging materials built using biobased and biodegradable materials can be produced in pilot‐scale and converted into functional barrier packaging. The proposed structures are anticipated to make a strong impact in use‐cases where the risk of environmental littering is elevated, such as snacks and take away meals ...

Assessment of bacterial and structural dynamics in aerobic granular biofilms

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2013
Aerobic granular sludge is based on self-granulated flocs forming mobile biofilms with a gel-like consistence. Bacterial and structural dynamics from flocs to granules were followed in anaerobic-aerobic sequencing batch reactors fed with synthetic ...

Detecting Plateau Zokor (Eospalax baileyi) Mounds in UAV Imagery of Alpine Meadows Using Deep Learning Algorithms

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
We developed PZM‐YOLO to automatically detect plateau zokor mounds in UAV imagery of alpine meadows. The model achieved reliable detection of small and densely distributed mounds under complex backgrounds, outperforming the baseline YOLOv5s. This framework supports mound counting, mound position, rodent impact assessment, and grassland restoration ...
