Self-Assembled Monolayer Enables Hole Transport Layer-Free Organic Solar Cells with 18% Efficiency and Improved Operational Stability

, 2020
We report on bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) organic photovoltaics (OPVs) using the self-assembled monolayer (SAM) 2PACz as a hole-selective interlayer functionalized directly onto the indium tin oxide (...

Nanopatterned self-assembled monolayers

Nanotechnology, 2006
We report on the fabrication of chemically nanopatterned gold surfaces by combining electron-beam lithography with gas and liquid phase thiolization. The line-edge roughness of the patterns is ∼4 nm, corresponding to a limiting feature size in the range of 15 nm.

Self-assembled Monolayers for Biosensors

The Analyst, 1997
The use of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) in various fields of research is rapidly growing. In particular, many biomedical fields apply SAMs as an interface-layer between a metal surface and a solution or vapour. This review summarises methods for the formation of SAMs upon the most commonly used materials and techniques used for monolayer ...

Π-Expanded Carbazoles as Hole-Selective Self-Assembled Monolayers for High-Performance Perovskite Solar Cells.

Angewandte Chemie, 2022
Carbazole-derived self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are promising hole-selective materials for inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, they often possess small dipoles which prohibit them from effectively modulating the workfunction of ITO ...

Interfacial toughening with self-assembled monolayers enhances perovskite solar cell reliability

Science, 2021
Tougher solar cell interfaces The low formation energies of the active layers in perovskite solar cells lead to low-toughness materials that are compliant and soft, which limits their interface stability and long-term reliability. Dai et al.

Self-Assembled Monolayer of Metal Oxide Nanosheet and Structure and Gas-Sensing Property Relationship.

ACS Sensors, 2019
Semiconducting 2D metal oxides have attracted great research interests for gas-sensing applications because of their considerable specific surface area and highly homogeneous surface.

Self-Assembled Monolayers for Batteries

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2021
Current studies in the Li-battery field are focusing on building systems with higher energy density than ever before. The path toward this goal, however, should not ignore aspects such as safety, stability, and cycling life. These issues frequently originate from interfacial instability, and therefore, precise surface chemistry that allows for accurate

Self‐Assembled Interlayer Enables High‐Performance Organic Photovoltaics with Power Conversion Efficiency Exceeding 20%

Advances in Materials
Interfacial layers (ILs) are prerequisites to form the selective charge transport for high‐performance organic photovoltaics (OPVs) but mostly result in considerable parasitic absorption loss.

Supercritical Self-Assembled Monolayer Growth

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2004
The growth of octadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (C(18)TAB) monolayers on mica was investigated using atomic force microscopy and infrared spectroscopy. A critical temperature was identified below which the monolayer formed via an "islanding" mechanism, that is, nucleation and growth of densely packed two-dimensional (2D) islands within a matrix of a ...

Maleimido‐Terminated Self‐Assembled Monolayers

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2005
AbstractFour approaches have been explored for the preparation of maleimido‐functionalized self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) on silicon. SAMs prepared by self‐assembly of maleimido‐functionalized alkyltrichlorosilanes (11‐maleimido‐undecyl‐trichlorosilane) on oxide‐covered silicon yield higher signals from maleimido functionalities in ATR‐IR (attenuated
