Combinatiorial method for surface-confined sensor desing and fabrication [PDF]
The procedure for the combinatorial fabrication of new sensing materials for cations and anions based on self-assembled monolayers (SAM) is discussed. A library of different sensitive substrates is generated by sequential deposition of fluorophores and ...

LL‐37 Driven Phase Transition and Stacking in Oligolamellar Gram‐Negative Bacterial Membrane Models
This work establishes oligolamellar bacterial membrane models to investigate how LL‐37 disrupts the complex dual‐bilayer architecture of Gram‐negative bacteria. Combining SAXS, cryo‐TEM, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and coarse‐grained simulations, it reveals cardiolipin‐driven phase transitions leading to bicelle‐like structures and membrane ...

Redox Active Self-Assembled Monolayer Functioning as a pH Actuator
Using electrochemical control to change the chemical environment in liquids is quite challenging because the small surface to volume ratio offered by traditional cells limits the release or modification of chemicals from the electrodes.

The shape of guanine self‐assemblies is tuned by introducing alkyl (G8), fluoroalkyl (G8f), and oligoether (G8g) side chains into the G moiety. The scanning tunneling microscopy results and calculations show that the presence and type of the side chain strongly affect the G self‐assembly network.

Molecular packing density of a self-assembled monolayer formed from N-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane by a vapor phase process. [PDF]
The molecular density of an aminosilane self-assembled monolayer formed from N-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (AEAPS) by a vapor phase method has been estimated to be about 3 AEAPS molecules per nm(2) based on chemical labeling, optical ...

Single‐ and Dual‐Atom Configurations in Atomically Dispersed Catalysts for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries
Single‐atom and dual‐atom‐based atomically dispersed catalysts (ADCs) effectively address the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics in Li–S batteries. With nearly 100% atomic utilization and tunable coordination environments, ADCs enhance LiPSs adsorption, lower conversion barriers, and accelerate sulfur redox reactions.

Self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) are promising hole‐transporting materials for organic photovoltaics (OPVs), but suffer from self‐aggregation and poor large‐area uniformity. We find that interfacial modification using nicotinic hydrazide can eliminate the residual SAM aggregates by forming energetically favorable complexes, yielding uniform SAM.

Electrochemical and molecular simulation studies on the corrosion inhibition of L-glutamine monolayers on an iron surface [PDF]
L-Glutamine was used to form monolayers for the inhibition of the corrosion of iron in 0.50 mol dm-3 H2SO4. The protection ability of the films was examined by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The mechanism of adsorption is discussed using quantum
