Interfacial Modulation for High‐Efficiency Large‐Area Organic Photovoltaics and Perovskite‐Organic Tandem Solar Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) are promising hole‐transporting materials for organic photovoltaics (OPVs), but suffer from self‐aggregation and poor large‐area uniformity. We find that interfacial modification using nicotinic hydrazide can eliminate the residual SAM aggregates by forming energetically favorable complexes, yielding uniform SAM.

Impact of Self-Assembled Monolayer Design and Electrochemical Factors on Impedance-Based Biosensing

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Real-time sensing of proteins, especially in wearable devices, remains a substantial challenge due to the need to convert a binding event into a measurable signal that is compatible with the chosen analytical instrumentation.

Multifunctional self-assembled monolayers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This is the final report of at three year, Laboratory-Directed Research and Development (LDRD) project at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The specific goals of this research project were threefold: to develop multifunctional self-assembled monolayers, to understand the role of monolayer structure on the functioning of such systems, and to ...

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

Self-Assembled Monolayer Transistors [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, 2002
Self-assembled monolayers of organic, conjugated molecules can be used as active components of field-effect transistors. The length of the molecule can define critical device dimensions with high precision on the nanometer scale. Transistor effects on the molecular-scale as well as in devices consisting of single active molecules have been demonstrated.

Polymer Network Modified Perovskite for High‐Performance Pure Blue Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polymer network of poly(4‐vinylphenol) (PVPh) is introduced to improve pure blue perovskite light‐emitting diodes. PVPh effectively passivates defects, enhances film morphology, reduces lattice strain, and suppresses ion migration. These effects lead to record device performance, achieving 9.82% external quantum efficiency and stable blue emission at

Controlled rotary motion of light-driven molecular motors assembled on a gold film [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Using circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, we show that light-driven rotary molecular motors based on overcrowded alkenes can function in a self-assembled monolayer on semi-transparent gold films.
