DiffBTS: A Lightweight Diffusion Model for 3D Multimodal Brain Tumor Segmentation

open access: yesSensors
Denoising diffusion probabilistic models (DDPMs) have achieved remarkable success across various research domains. However, their high complexity when processing 3D images remains a limitation. To mitigate this, researchers typically preprocess data into

Can We Achieve Efficient Diffusion without Self-Attention? Distilling Self-Attention Into Convolutions

open access: yes2025 IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV)
Contemporary diffusion models built upon U-Net or Diffusion Transformer (DiT) architectures have revolutionized image generation through transformer-based attention mechanisms. The prevailing paradigm has commonly employed self-attention with quadratic computational complexity to handle global spatial relationships in complex images, thereby ...

Guiding AlphaFold to predict how Munc13‐1 opens Syntaxin‐1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The syntaxin‐1 Habc‐domain (orange), linker (pink) and SNARE motif (yellow) form a closed conformation that binds to Munc18‐1 (violet) and is opened by the Munc13‐1 MUN domain (cyan) to form the SNARE complex that triggers neurotransmitter release.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.
