Nanocrystalline titanium dioxide has been prepared under ambient pressure and at temperatures close to or approaching room temperature using hydrolysis of titanium tetraisopropoxide in an acidic aqueous solution. Self-Cleaning Leather

This work evaluated the use of polycarboxylic acids as chemical binders to immobilize TiO2 to produce “crust” vegetable-tanned leather with self-cleaning properties. A methodology was developed with immersion of leather samples in a solution of polycarboxylic acids, followed by curing of the binder.

Directional Self-Cleaning Superoleophobic Surface

In this work, we report the creation of a grooved surface comprising 3 μm grooves (height ~4 μm) separated by 3 μm from each other on a silicon wafer by photolithography. The grooved surface was then modified chemically with a fluorosilane layer (FOTS).
