Finite Automata and Non-self-Embedding Grammars

2003
We consider non-self-embedding (NSE) context-free grammars as a representation of regular sets. We point out its advantages with respect to more classical representations by finite automata, in particular when considering the efficient realization of the rational operations.

Image self-recovery with watermark self-embedding

Signal Processing: Image Communication, 2018
Abstract In this paper, an effective image authentication method for image tamper detection and self-recovery is proposed. We embed the fragile watermark of one block which consists of authentication data and recovery data into the other block according to the embedding sequence generated by chaotic map.

Efficient Image Recovery Based on Self-Embedding

2008 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications, 2008
Due to the instability of and possible attacks on the networks, image files transmitted through the networks may encounter losses of data. Such losses may be recovered by retransmitting or by using image processing techniques. The latter has an obvious advantage that the network traffic could be reduced.

Colour image authentication based on a self-embedding technique

2002 14th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing Proceedings. DSP 2002 (Cat. No.02TH8628), 2003
In the paper an approach for digital image authentication is described. The authentication process is achieved by means of a watermarking scheme that embeds an approximation of the image into itself. Specifically, the luminance of the image is inserted into the three colour channels, using a mapping function.

Image self-embedding with high-quality restoration capability

Digital Signal Processing, 2011
In this paper, we present a new fragile watermarking method aimed at providing improved restoration capability. A mechanism of block classification is used to compress the original image according to the DCT coefficients, in which blocks corresponding to different types are encoded to variable lengths. The compressed bits are expanded as reference bits,

A new method for image reconstruction using self-embedding

2014 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2014
In this paper we propose a new method for content reconstruction using self-embedding technology. As the content reconstruction problem can be regarded as a special kind of erasure channel, we use fountain code which has good performance in erasure channel to generate reference symbols for reconstruction.

Self-Embedding and Restoration Algorithms for Document Watermark

Proceedings. (ICASSP '05). IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005., 2006
When a document or a sequence of characters is tampered, watermarking should be able to not only detect the tampering but also restore it. Towards this goal, self-embedding is used where the watermark is a copy of the sequence itself. Restoration algorithms for substitution attack are proposed for two variants of self-embedding.

A Blind Associative Watermarking Technique Using Self-Embedding

2008 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications, 2008
Two techniques combining associative watermarking and self-embedding are used to support the blind watermarking detection. The experimental result shows that the proposed method is robust. When the watermarked images suffered from various kinds of image-processing procedures, such as Gaussian noise and brightness, the existence of watermarks can be ...

Efficient self-embedding of butterfly networks with random faults

Proceedings., 33rd Annual Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science, 1992
The embedding of a butterfly network into its faulty version is studied. A constructive self-embedding is provided, in which the load, dilation and congestion are all reasonably low.
