Laser‐Induced Microfabrication of Carbon Nanostructure: Processing Mechanism and Application for Next‐Generation Battery Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The article reviews laser‐processed carbons from various precursors, processing mechanism and their application in advanced batteries. The laser process is chemical free, fast, and scalable, enabling improved battery performance and stability for Li, Na, and Zn battery technologies.

Flutter analysis of mistuned bladed disk

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
Although, in designing blades, it is assumed that all blades on a disk are identical (tuned system), the vibration characteristics of the blade is slightly different due to the manufacturing tolerance, the deviation of the material property, and so on ...

Experiences with nonsynchronous forced vibration in centrifugal compressors [PDF]

open access: yes
The high subsynchronous vibrations which are often forced vibrations caused by flow instabilities, such as stage stall were examined. Modifications to improve the rotor stability by changing the bearings or seals have little effects on the subsynchronous

A molecular state of correlated electrons in a quantum dot

open access: yes, 2008
Correlation among particles in finite quantum systems leads to complex behaviour and novel states of matter. One remarkable example is predicted to occur in a semiconductor quantum dot (QD) where at vanishing density the Coulomb correlation among ...

Electro‐Active Polymer Actuated Microfiltration Membranes: Design, Performance, and Particle Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The concept of foulant particle manipulation and detachment from active microfiltration membranes via voltage‐driven vibrations is introduced. Actuator components are initially integrated onto the filtration membranes using an airbrush spray printing technique.

Internal hysteresis experienced on a high pressure syn gas compressor [PDF]

open access: yes
A vibration instability phenomenon experienced in operating high pressure syn gas centrifugal compressors in two ammonia plants is described. The compressors were monitored by orbit and spectrum analysis for changes from baseline readings.

Parametric Excitation in a Self-excited Three-degrees of Freedom Problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The efect of parametric excitation in self-excited has been investigated in two-degrees of freedom problems. The possibility of suppressing self-excited vibrationsby using parametric excitation and the dynamic behavior of those kind systems were ...

Efficient NiOx Hole Transport Layers Enabled by Multifunctional MXenes for High‐Performance Tin‐Lead Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An efficient NiOx HTL is successfully prepared by introducing MXene as an additive without further surface modification to fabricate high‐performance FASn0.5Pb0.5I3 perovskite solar cells. The introduction of MXene contributes to improved conductivity of NiOx, better aligned at NiOx/perovskite interfaces, and enhanced quality of perovskite films ...

Research on the ditching resistance reduction of self-excited vibrations ditching device based on MBD-DEM coupling simulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
In plant horticulture, furrow fertilizing is a common method to promote plant nutrient absorption and to effectively avoid fertilizer waste. Considering the high resistance caused by soil compaction in southern orchards, an energy-saving ditching device ...

Lithium Intercalation in the Anisotropic Van Der Waals Semiconductor CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report the lithium intercalation in the layered van der Waals crystal CrSBr, revealing strongly anisotropic ion‐migration dynamics. Optical and electrical characterization of exfoliated CrSBr shows lithium diffusion coefficients that differ by more than an order of magnitude along a‐ and b‐directions, consistent with molecular dynamics simulations ...
