The Impact of Cyberbullying on Self-Harming Behavior and Suicidal Thoughts among Adolescents: A Meta-Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
Background: Online bullying often occurs among teenagers. This is an important risk factor for self-injurious behavior and suicidal ideation. This study aimed to analyze and estimate the magnitude of the effect of online bullying on self-injurious ...

Nanodiamond‐Infused Microgels for pH‐Tunable Rheology, Lubrication, and UV Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microgels consisting of swollen polyacrylic acid polymer networks, impregnated with nanodiamonds provide protection from ultraviolet (UV) radiation harmful to human health. Nanodiamonds enable UV blockage and control of the rheology (flow) and lubrication (skin‐feel) of these microgel‐skincare‐mimics.

Treatment of severe self-injurious behavior among the institutionalized retarded using a combination of overcorrection, contingent restraint, and increased interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Three severely developmentally delayed institutionalized adolescent individuals were treated for severe self-injurious behavior over a three month period. Treatment consisted of positive practice overcorrection, restraint delivered as a reinforcer for an

Transducer Materials Mediated Deep Brain Stimulation in Neurological Disorders

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses advanced transducer materials for improving deep brain stimulation (DBS) in neurological disorders. These materials respond to light, ultrasound, or magnetic fields, enabling precise, less invasive neuromodulation. Their stimulus‐responsive properties enhance neural control and adaptive therapy, paving the way for next‐generation ...

Knowledge of Nonsuicidal Self-Injury in Populations That Self-Injure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Archived data was utilized for the present study which examined knowledge about non-suicidal self-injury, or NSSI, in individuals who engage in various degrees of the behavior and those who do not self-injure.

Cell‐Delivering Injectable Hydrogels with Tunable Microporous Structures Improve Therapeutic Efficacy for Volumetric Muscle Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents an injectable hydrogel with tunable microporosity to improve mesenchymal stem cell delivery for volumetric muscle loss treatment. Mesenchymal stem cells encapsulated in porous hydrogels significantly promote the spreading, proliferation, and cytokine secretion of mesenchymal stem cells.

Engineering Topographical Cues to Enhance Neural Regeneration in Spinal Cord Injury: Overcoming Challenges and Advancing Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Spinal cord injury (SCI) poses significant challenges for regeneration due to a series of secondary injury mechanisms. How to use biomaterial approach to target the failed regeneration after SCI remains a critical challenge. This review systematically evaluates current strategies to optimize biomaterial topographies for neurite outgrowth, axonal ...

An experimental analysis of the parameters of facial screening [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Of the several techniques reported for the treatment of self-injurious behavior, response-contingent aversive stimu-lation and overcorrection seem to be the most successful.
