Toward a theory of Bayesian experimentation in early‐stage ventures
Abstract Research Summary The entrepreneurship literature has established the benefits of experimentation but has paid comparatively little attention to its costs. We develop a Bayesian model to illustrate the entrepreneurial choice between direct and experimental entry.

Broadband and Enhanced Second‐Harmonic Generation in Metallic 3R‐TaS2
A pronounced and robust SHG response has been observed in metallic 3R‐TaS2. It shows broadband SH conversion from 1020 nm to 1410 nm. Moreover, compared to the sapphire substrate, 3R‐TaS2 flakes with various thicknesses on the gold substrate showed different SHG enhancement; the enhancement factors range from 2.7 to 45.5.

This work presents a biofriendly carbon nanotube yarn artificial muscle operating either as an in‐air unipolar actuator or as a self‐powered ionotronic strain sensor. Using a non‐volatile eutectogel‐derived electrolyte, the system achieves up to 2.9% contraction and 0.5 mV/% strain sensing sensitivity.

Local Eviction Moratoria and the Spread of COVID‐19
ABSTRACT At different stages during the initial onset of the COVID‐19 pandemic, various US states and local municipalities enacted eviction moratoria. One of the main aims of these moratoria was to slow the spread of COVID‐19 infections. We deploy a semiparametric difference‐in‐differences approach with an event study specification to examine whether ...

Looking for Trouble: Pre‐Intervention Monitoring in Human and AI Driver Training
We compare two types of situations involving monitoring of car driving: a driving instructor overseeing a trainee driver and a safety driver overseeing the performance of autonomous vehicle (AV) software. Our focus is on instances of monitoring that precede (1) interventions that are aborted before impacting the driving and (2) actual interventions on ...

ABSTRACT Science teachers' ability to accurately judge students' knowledge and skills is essential for successful teaching and, thus, highly relevant to science teacher education. Findings from studies focusing on language and mathematics have shown that (pre‐service) teachers' judgment accuracy is not only subject‐specific but may also vary across ...

Shared struggles: Parallels in caregiver burden between canine and paediatric epilepsy
Abstract Background Disease‐specific aspects of pet owners’ caregiver burden could be missed by generic burden measures. This study aimed to assess whether a framework developed to describe caregiver burden in parents of children with epilepsy was applicable to caregivers of dogs with epilepsy.

ABSTRACT This paper provides an overview of high‐temperature superconducting (HTS) cables in DC systems, with a focus on their deployment in high‐voltage DC (HVDC) networks. The assessment of HTS cable properties—such as extremely low electrical resistance, high current‐carrying capacity and a compact geometry—and their comparison with those of ...

Citizens are more willing to co‐produce when participants represent community demographics
Abstract Despite co‐production's potential to address democratic deficits, the role of representation in co‐production and its impact on public perceptions remain largely under‐analysed empirically. Employing a vignette survey design, this study tests how representation in co‐production affects citizens’ intentions to get involved.
