Semisimple characters for p-adic classical groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Let G be a unitary, symplectic, or orthogonal group over a non-Archimedean local field of residual characteristic different from 2, considered as the fixed-point subgroup in a general linear group of an involution. Following previous work of Bushnell and

Finite Groups Having Nonnormal T.I. Subgroups

open access: yes, 2018
In the present paper, the structure of a finite group $G$ having a nonnormal T.I. subgroup $H$ which is also a Hall $\pi$-subgroup is studied. As a generalization of a result due to Gow, we prove that $H$ is a Frobenius complement whenever $G$ is $\pi ...

Restriction of odd degree characters and natural correspondences

open access: yes, 2016
Let $q$ be an odd prime power, $n > 1$, and let $P$ denote a maximal parabolic subgroup of $GL_n(q)$ with Levi subgroup $GL_{n-1}(q) \times GL_1(q)$.

Diabetes subgroups and sociodemographic inequalities in Mexico: a cross-sectional analysis of nationally representative surveys from 2016 to 2022Research in context

open access: yesThe Lancet Regional Health. Americas
Summary: Background: Differences in the prevalence of four diabetes subgroups have been reported in Mexico compared to other populations, but factors that may contribute to these differences are poorly understood.

Normalizers and self-normalizing subgroups

open access: yesGlasnik matematicki, 2011
Let $\mathbb K$ be a field of characteristic $\neq 2$. Suppose $G=\boldsymbol{; ; G}; ; (\mathbb K)$ is the group of $\mathbb K$-points of a reductive algebraic $\mathbb K$-group $\boldsymbol{; ; G}; ; $. Let $G_1\leq G$ be the group of $\mathbb K$-points of a reductive subgroup $\boldsymbol{; ; G}; ; _1\leq \boldsymbol{; ; G}; ; $.

On self-normalizing cyclic subgroups

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1989
By quoting the classification of finite simple groups and by analyzing the list of simple groups, the author demonstrates: Theorem: There are no self-normalizing cyclic subgroups in non-abelian finite simple groups.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...
