Self-powered optical sensor systems
TRANSDUCERS 2009 - 2009 International Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems Conference, 2009A 0.35 µm CMOS process has been used for on-chip integration of a sun sensor composed of a 2×2 photodiode array and a current-to-voltage amplifier. Unlike conventional sun sensors, a shade profile proportional to the angle of incidence of incoming light is projected onto the photodiodes.

Self-powered lightning current sensor
2016 IEEE SENSORS, 2016In this paper, a self-powered lightning current sensor based on the electromagnetic induction principle has been proposed. The sensor whose signal coil and power harvesting coil are nested in lightning channel (such as grounding wire of lightning arresters) can be triggered and powered by the lighting current.

Nanogenerator as self-powered vibration sensor
Nano Energy, 2012Abstract Vibration is one of the most popular phenomena that exists in our daily life. Detection of mechanical vibration usually uses laser technology. Here, we demonstrated the first application of a piezoelectric nanogenerator (NG) as a self-powered sensor for detecting the vibration status of a cantilever.

A self-powered damage detection sensor
The Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design, 2003All existing methods of embedded damage-detecting sensors require an external power source and a means of transmitting the data to a central processor. This paper presents a novel self-powered strain sensor capable of transmitting data wirelessly to a remote receiver.
