Upscaled Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis (SHS)/Dynamic Compaction Processing [PDF]
Abstract : Titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium diboride (TiB2 ceramics were formed from elemental powders using a Gleeble 1500 dynamic thermomechanical process simulator. In the first step of a two-step process, a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) reaction was initiated by the passage of an electric current through the powdered green ...

This image categorizes global optimization methods into stochastic and deterministic approaches. Stochastic methods include techniques like Genetic Algorithms, Simulated Annealing, and Machine Learning, often involving randomness. Deterministic methods, such as Molecular Dynamics and Single‐Ended methods, follow defined rules without randomness.

Formation mechanism of ZrB2-Al2O3 nanocomposite powder by mechanically induced self-sustaining reaction [PDF]
ZrB2-Al2O3 nanocomposite powder was produced by aluminothermic reduction in Al/ZrO2/B2O 3 system. In this research, high energy ball milling was used to produce the necessary conditions to induce a mechanically induced self-sustaining reaction.

An investigation on the formation mechanism of nano ZrB2 powder by a magnesiothermic reaction [PDF]
Nanocrystalline zirconium diboride (ZrB2) powder was produced by mechanochemistry from the magnesiothermic reduction in the Mg/ZrO 2/B2O3 system. The use of high-energy milling conditions was essential to induce a mechanically induced self-sustaining ...

Brazing ZrB2 ultra‐high‐temperature ceramics to Zr metals for hypersonic thermal protection systems
Abstract Porous and dense zirconium diboride (ZrB2) materials are promising ultra‐high‐temperature ceramics (UHTCs) for transpiration cooling in hypersonic applications, providing an effective means to reduce component temperatures and mitigate oxidation effects. While porous ZrB2 enables coolant flow, dense ZrB2 offers structural integrity.
