Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis
Journal of Materials Science, 1992Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) and processes based on SHS are currently being developed the world over for the production of powders and near-net shape components of advanced materials. The research activities that have been and are being carried out in this field are reviewed here. Theoretical principles underlying SHS process, such

Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis of Silicon Carbide Nanofibers
Russian Journal of Non-Ferrous Metals, 2020The results of investigations into the organization of the synthesis of silicon carbide fibers in the gas phase using silicon powder, an energy additive of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and polyethylene (PE) powder by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) are presented.

Self‐Propagating High‐Temperature Synthesis of Quasicrystals
Combustion, Explosion and Shock Waves, 2004With an example of Al–Ni–Co systems of two different compositions, the possibility of obtaining stable decagonal quasicrystals by the method self‐propagating high‐temperature synthesis is demonstrated. The burning rate and temperature are determined. Results of an electron‐microscopic and x‐ray diffraction study of the quasicrystals are reported.

Self-propagating high temperature synthesis of SiAlON
International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials, 2016Abstract In this work, a new method of SHS process has been investigated for the synthesis of SiAlON under low nitrogen pressure. A gel mixture of silica and sodium oxide (sodium silicate) as a reactant and catalyst was produced by alkali melting of silica, solving the results in water and heating in auto clave.

Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis of MgAl2O4 Spinel
Inorganic Materials, 2020Magnesium aluminate spinel, MgAl2O4, has been prepared by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) in the MgO–Al2O3–Mg(NO3)2 ∙ 6H2O–Al–B system. The composition and structure of the synthesis product have been ascertained by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Using time-resolved X-ray diffraction (TRXRD)
