Factors contributing to self-rated health in community-dwelling independent 75-year-old Finns: a population-based cross-sectional cohort study

open access: yesBMC Geriatrics

A single-item self-rated health measure correlates with objective health status in the elderly: a survey in suburban Beijing

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2014
IntroductionThe measurement of health status of the elderly remains one important topic. Self-rated health status (SRH) is considered to be a simple indicator to measure the health status of the old population. But some researchers still take a skeptical

Descriptive regression tree analysis of intersecting predictors of adult self-rated health: Does gender matter? A cross-sectional study of Canadian adults.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
BackgroundWhile self-rated health (SRH) is a well-validated indicator, its alignment with objective health is inconsistent, particularly among women and older adults.

A Cross‐Sectional Survey Study Assessing the Quality of Life and Sleep in Spanish Psoriasis Patients

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Psoriasis impacts quality of life (QOL) and sleep (QOS), yet dermatology assessments often do not evaluate sleep. The Short‐form health survey (SF‐36) and Pittsburg sleep quality index (PSQI) further investigated patients’ QOL and QOS. Particularly women, unemployed patients, and those that use sleep medications had worse QOS and QOL.

Chromium Salt: A Review of Salt Formation, Hygroscopic Properties, and Impact on 316 L Corrosion in Hydrochloric Acid

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
This article examines the impact of externally introduced chromium compounds on the localized corrosion of 316 L stainless steel in acidic chloride environments such as hydrochloric acid. While the corrosion resistance of 316 L relies on the formation of a chromium‐rich passive oxide layer, industrial conditions may expose the steel to various chromium

Regularized reduced rank regression for mixed predictor and response variables

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract In this paper, we introduce the Generalized Mixed Regularized Reduced Rank Regression model (GMR4), an extension of the GMR3 model designed to improve performance in high‐dimensional settings. GMR3 is a regression method for a mix of numeric, binary and ordinal response variables, while also allowing for mixed‐type predictors through optimal ...

General and comparative self-rated health in chronic stroke: an important outcome measure for health professionals

open access: yesBMC Neurology, 2022
Background After a stroke, several aspects of health and function may influence how individuals perceive their own health. However, self-rated health (SRH), as well as its relationship with functioning, has been little explored in individuals with stroke.
