Statistical Self-Similar Properties of Complex Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
It has been shown that many complex networks shared distinctive features, which differ in many ways from the random and the regular networks. Although these features capture important characteristics of complex networks, their applicability depends on ...

Optimized Self-Similar Borel Summation

open access: yesAxioms, 2023
The method of Fractional Borel Summation is suggested in conjunction with self-similar factor approximants. The method used for extrapolating asymptotic expansions at small variables to large variables, including the variables tending to infinity, is ...

Self-similar Sketch

open access: yes, 2012
We introduce the self-similar sketch, a new method for the extraction of intermediate image features that combines three principles: detection of self-similarity structures, nonaccidental alignment, and instance-specific modelling. The method searches for self-similar image structures that form nonaccidental patterns, for example collinear arrangements.

Spectra of Self-Similar Measures

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
This paper is devoted to the characterization of spectrum candidates with a new tree structure to be the spectra of a spectral self-similar measure μN,D generated by the finite integer digit set D and the compression ratio N−1.

Remaining Useful Life Prediction of Roller Bearings Based on Fractional Brownian Motion

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
Roller bearing degradation features fractal characteristics such as self-similarity and long-range dependence (LRD). However, the existing remaining useful life (RUL) prediction models are memoryless or short-range dependent.

Self-similar pattern formation and continuous mechanics of self-similar systems [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2007
In many cases, the critical state of systems that reached the threshold is characterised by self-similar pattern formation. We produce an example of pattern formation of this kind – formation of self-similar distribution of interacting fractures ...

The global picture of self-similar and not self-similar decay in Burgers Turbulence

open access: yes, 2004
This paper continue earlier investigations on the decay of Burgers turbulence in one dimension from Gaussian random initial conditions of the power-law spectral type $E_0(k)\sim|k|^n$.

Kinematic self-similar locally rotationally symmetric models [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A brief summary of results on kinematic self-similarities in general relativity is given. Attention is focussed on locally rotationally symmetric models admitting kinematic self-similar vectors.
