Effect of polyploidy and pollination methods on capsule and seed set of pansies (Viola × wittrockiana Gams)

open access: yesHorticultural Science, 2013
Pansy, Viola × wittrockiana, is a popular ornamental plant. Effects of polyploidy on phenotype and four pollination methods on capsule and seed set were studied using ten octoploid (2n = 8x) and two hexadecaploid (2n = 16x) genotypes, originating from ...

Cognitive and Experienced Flexibility in Patients With Anorexia Nervosa and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2022
ObjectiveAnorexia nervosa (AN) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) share a neuropsychological profile characterized by cognitive inflexibility as evident in set-shifting problems, and by strong detail focus.

Software-Based Self-Test of Set-Associative Cache Memories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Embedded microprocessor cache memories suffer from limited observability and controllability creating problems during in-system tests. This paper presents a procedure to transform traditional march tests into software-based self-test programs for set ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Fractal functions defined in terms of number representations in systems with a redundant alphabet

open access: yesМатематичні Студії
For fixed natural numbers $r$ and $s$, where $2\leq s \leq r$, we consider a representation of num\-bers from the interval $[0;\frac{r}{s-1}]$ obtained by encoding numbers by means of the alphabet $A=\{0,1,...,r\}$ via the expansion $$x=\sum\limits_{n=1}

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Self-similar sets and measures on the line

open access: yes, 2023
We discuss the problem of determining the dimension of self-similar sets and measures on $\mathbf{R}$. We focus on the developments of the last four years. At the end of the paper, we survey recent results about other aspects of self-similar measures including their Fourier decay and absolute continuity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

On the Nonexistence of Order Isomorphisms between the Sets of All Self-Adjoint and All Positive Definite Operators

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2015
We prove that there is no bijective map between the set of all positive definite operators and the set of all self-adjoint operators on a Hilbert space with dimension greater than 1 which preserves the usual order (the one coming from the concept of ...
