Quantifying Accuracy of Self-Tapping Screw Models

2021 43rd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society (EMBC), 2021
Correct torquing of bone screws is important to prevent fixation failures and ensure positive patient outcomes. It has been proposed that an automatic model-based method may be able to determine the patient-specific material properties of bone, and provide objective and quantitative torquing recommendations.

Geometric Generalization of Self Tapping Screw Insertion Model

2021 43rd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society (EMBC), 2021
Bone screws are used in orthopaedic procedures to fix implants and stabilise fractures. These procedures require care, as improperly torquing the screws can lead to implant failure or tissue damage, potentially requiring revision surgery or causing further disability.

Investigating Torque-Speed Relationship of Self-Tapping Screws

2021 43rd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society (EMBC), 2021
Correctly torquing bone screws is important to prevent fixation failures and ensure positive patient outcomes. It has been proposed that an automatic model-based method may be able to determine the patient-specific material properties of bone, and provide objective and quantitative torquing recommendations.

PREDICTION OF WITHDRAWAL STIFFNESS OF SELF-TAPPING SCREWS

World Conference on Timber Engineering (WCTE 2023), 2023
: Self-tapping screw is a new generation of fasteners which is often inserted into the face of timber membersat an angle to develop stiff and strong connections. The withdrawal stiffness of self-tapping screws is an important property that influences the performance of the connection.

AO/ASIF self-tapping screws (STS)

Injury, 1993
The term self-tapping screw refers to screws which are inserted into a predrilled hole directly without first tapping a thread. A self-drilling screw would refer to a screw inserted without predrilling which would function similar to a threaded K-wire. Selftapping screws are further subdivided into threadfarming and thread-cutting screws.
