Vertebrate diversity and biomass along a recovery gradient in a lowland tropical forest
Biotropica, Volume 57, Issue 1, January 2025.Deforestation of tropical forests has resulted in large areas of secondary forests with the potential for biodiversity to re‐establish to levels usually found in old‐growth forests. This study shows that diversity and biomass of mammals and birds in regenerating forests can recover to old‐growth levels within a relatively short time.

A most aggressive bear: Safari videos document sloth bear defense against tiger predation
Ecology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2024.We collected and examined 43 videos, and photo documentations, of sloth bear–tiger interactions posted on the internet or social media mainly by tourists visiting tiger parks in India. We observed that sloth bears were most likely to stand up and charge if they first became aware of the tiger at close range (<3 m away).
