SEM, SEM-EDX, µ-ATR-FTIR and XRD for urban street dust characterisation

International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 2019
Street dust, which is deposited from the atmosphere, reflects the quality of the environment. In this study, a collection of non-destructive qualitative and semi-quantitative techniques was exploited to characterise urban street dust samples from Khamees-

Alite sulfoaluminate clinker: Rietveld mineralogical and SEM-EDX analysis

Advances in Cement Research, 2014
The effect of zinc oxide and calcium fluoride on the clinkering of alite-sulfoaluminate (ACSA) materials has been studied by laboratory X-ray powder diffraction (EDX) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). ACSA clinkers without the addition of calcium fluoride did not contained C3S, and showed CaOfree (5·0(1) wt%).

Single particle mineralogy of microparticles from Himalayan ice-cores using SEM/EDX and ATR-FTIR imaging techniques for identification of volcanic ash signatures

Chemical Geology, 2019
In this study, insoluble microparticles from four discrete layers of ice-cores drilled out from the East Rongbuk glacier of the Himalayas were characterized on a single particle basis by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray ...

SEM/EDX and XPS studies of niobium after electropolishing

Applied Surface Science, 2012
Abstract The studies of niobium after electrochemical polishing EP in sulfuric–methanesulfonic acid mixture were performed. The NbO x /Nb surface was studied by SEM/EDX and XPS methods to find out the chemical composition of the oxygen-induced structures. Specifically the XPS results obtained after EP treatment indicate prevailing part of oxygen with

SEM-EDX investigations of magnetron sputtered ZnO thin films

2011 2nd International Conference on Photonics, 2011
Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a promising electronic material for transparent electronic applications including thin-film sensors, transistors and solar cells. In this work, we investigated the influence of direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering process parameter on ZnO films using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Compositional Classification of Archaeological Pottery Based on INAA and SEM-EDX

Journal of Trace and Microprobe Techniques, 2003
Abstract The suitability of combining Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) and Electron Probe X-ray Microanalysis (SEM-EDX) for the classification of archaeological pottery based on their composition is illustrated with two examples of different nature and complexity: the study of Cuban aborigine pottery production and distribution and the ...
