In the paper the problem of video segmentation and semantic analysis for video indexing and cinematographic language classification is addressed. Large archives of video sequences will remain a largely unexploitable resource of information, unless a straightforward way to describe their content is designed.

Semantic category theory indicates that human thinking involves four, entirely distinct types of information processing, each associated with a totally independent dasiasemantic categorypsila. However, observation also indicates that human cognition does not enforce strong data typing.

Over the last decade, two computational ideas have fundamentally disrupted how humans receive and consume information. Online Social Networks and Social Media revolutionized information diffusion in societies, compelling traditional media, advertising and technology companies to honor the wisdom of the crowds.

Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) is a powerful tool for use in the support of learning in collaborative environments. We will provide participants with a basic understanding of LSA theory and methods and demonstrate applications of its use in support of collaboration and learning.

AbstractA semantic theory must account for both how words are related to other words (intralinguistic connections) and how words connect to the world. Semantic field theory, which is appropriate for intralinguistic relations, is applied to wine words in this chapter.

Incorporating Semantic Analysis
1997Thus far, the basic analyzer components which comprise of the lexical analyzer and parser, are in place. Recognition of program structure is relatively simple, and in fact, has been shown in the previous two chapters to be highly amenable to automated construction.
