Pseudo(-) in French and Greek: Categorization and approximation

open access: yesZeitschrift für Wortbildung, 2023
Pseudo(-) is generally considered to be a prefix or a prefixoid unit with an evaluative value of pragmatic approximation and negative polarity: pseudo(-)X presents a distortion with respect to a standard X.

Assessment and Semantic Categorization of Fabric Visual Texture Preferences

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2022
The texture of a fabric can be perceived by the haptic and visual senses. Visual texture can be defined as a visual quality of a surface. It is an important phenomenon because it can be significant in many fields, such as textile design and e-commerce ...

Grounding Large Language Models for Robot Task Planning Using Closed‐Loop State Feedback

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
BrainBody‐Large Language Model (LLM) introduces a hierarchical, feedback‐driven planning framework where two LLMs coordinate high‐level reasoning and low‐level control for robotic tasks. By grounding decisions in real‐time state feedback, it reduces hallucinations and improves task reliability.

A Categorization Scheme for Semantic Web Search Engines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Semantic web search engines are evolving and many prototype systems and some implementation have been developed. However, there are some different views on what a semantic search engine should do.

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.

Continual Learning for Multimodal Data Fusion of a Soft Gripper

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Models trained on a single data modality often struggle to generalize when exposed to a different modality. This work introduces a continual learning algorithm capable of incrementally learning different data modalities by leveraging both class‐incremental and domain‐incremental learning scenarios in an artificial environment where labeled data is ...

Image Semantics in the Description and Categorization of Journalistic Photographs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper reports a study on the description and categorization of images. The aim of the study was to evaluate existing indexing frameworks in the context of reportage photographs and to find out how the use of this particular image genre influences ...

Multimodal Engagement Assessment in Children During Invented Story Paradigm With a Social Robot

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A multimodal framework is proposed to assess children's engagement during storytelling interactions with a social robot. Gaze, physiological, and behavioral data are combined and validated against observer ratings. An automated gaze‐labeling strategy is introduced, and supervised classifiers achieve high accuracy. The study supports scalable engagement

Searching and ranking ontologies on the Semantic Web [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The number of ontologies available online is increasing constantly. Tools that are capable of searching, retrieving, and ranking ontologies are becoming crucial to facilitate ontology search and reuse. In this document, we describe OntoSearch, which is a

Beyond concreteness: why word specificity is the missing piece in theories on embodied language comprehension

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
The concreteness effect has long been associated with embodied theories of language, which propose that concrete words are easier to process than abstract ones because they more directly engage perceptual and motor simulations.
