THE GAP IS SEMANTIC, NOT EPISTEMOLOGICAL [PDF]
AbstractThis paper explores an alternative to the metaphysical challenge to physicalism posed by Jackson and Kripke and to the epistemological one exemplified by the positions of Nagel, Levine and McGinn. On this alternative the mind‐body gap is neither ontological nor epistemological, but semantic.

Bridging the Gap: Query by Semantic Example [PDF]
A combination of query-by-visual-example (QBVE) and semantic retrieval (SR), denoted as query-by-semantic-example (QBSE), is proposed. Images are labeled with respect to a vocabulary of visual concepts, as is usual in SR. Each image is then represented by a vector, referred to as a semantic multinomial, of posterior concept probabilities.

Exploring the Semantic Gap for Movie Recommendations [PDF]
In the last years, there has been much attention given to the semantic gap problem in multimedia retrieval systems. Much effort has been devoted to bridge this gap by building tools for the extraction of high-level, semantics-based features from multimedia content, as low-level features are not considered useful because they deal primarily with ...

A Domain Adaptive Semantic Segmentation Network Based on Improved Transformation Network
Due to the high cost and time-consumption of artificial semantic tags, domain-based adaptive semantics segmentation is very necessary. For scenes with large gaps or pixels, it is easy to limit model training and reduce the accuracy of semantic ...
