Hands-on introduction to semantic interoperability
Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on the Internet of Things, 2018Industry standards being currently developed for the Internet and the Web of Things lack an interoperability layer to compose data from arbitrary origins. In order to have a semantic approach towards data transformation from different schemas, these schemas should be exposed as semantic models on the Web.

Semantic interoperability in electronic auctions
International Journal of Web Information Systems, 2008PurposeThis paper aims to report work on achieving semantic interoperability in electronic auctions. In particular, it considers the advantages and drawbacks of using hard‐coding and using semantic messages in the communication between the auction system and the participants of the auction.Design/methodology/approachIt is demonstrated that although XML‐

Semantic enrichment of interoperable databases
Proceedings RIDE-IMS `93: Third International Workshop on Research Issues in Data Engineering: Interoperability in Multidatabase Systems, 2002Integrated access to a federated database system, requires a deep knowledge about the semantics of its component databases so that interdatabase semantic relationships can be detected. Unfortunately, very often there is a lack of such a knowledge and the local schemas do not help to acquire it. The solution is to upgrade the semantic level of the local

Semantic Interoperability of Clinical Data
2017The interoperability of clinical information systems is particularly complicated due to the use of outdated technologies and the absence of consensus about standards. The literature applies standard-based approaches to achieve clinical data interoperability, but many systems do not adopt any standard, requiring a full redesigning process.

Ontologies for semantically interoperable systems
Proceedings of the twelfth international conference on Information and knowledge management, 2003In this paper, we discuss the use of ontologies for semantic interoperability and integration. We argue that information technology has evolved into a world of largely loosely coupled systems and as such, needs increasingly more explicit, machine-interpretable semantics.

Towards Semantic Interoperability in Cyberspace
2001A specification of generic infrastructure created by a mobile agent platform is presented. On the basis of the specification, an approach to agent interoperability is introduced. The approach is bases on agent interface to environment proposed as a minimal standard needed to achieve full interoperability.
