The WSML Rule Languages for the Semantic Web

open access: green, 2005
The Web Service Modeling Language WSML provides a framework for the modeling of ontologies and semantic Web services based on the conceptual model of the Web Service Modeling Ontology. In this paper we describe the two rule-based WSML-variants and outline our position with respect to a rule language for the Semantic Web.

Ontology-Based Physical Exercise Recommender System for Underweight Using Ontology and Semantic Web Rule Language

open access: diamondJournal of Information System Research (JOSH), 2023
Inactive lifestyles and unhealthy diets are often the result of people's busy lives. because of these bad habits, many people are underweight. diet and lack of physical activity are factors that cause underweight. Due to lack of information, people prefer to live lazily and not exercise.

Flavours of XChange, a Rule-Based Reactive Language for the (Semantic) Web [PDF]

open access: green, 2005
This article introduces XChange, a rule-based reactive language for the Web. Stressing application scenarios, it first argues that high-level reactive languages are needed for bothWeb and SemanticWeb applications. Then, it discusses technologies and paradigms relevant to high-level reactive languages for the (Semantic) Web.

SPARQL in N3: SPARQL CONSTRUCT as a rule language for the Semantic Web (Extended Version) [PDF]

open access: green
Reasoning in the Semantic Web (SW) commonly uses Description Logics (DL) via OWL2 DL ontologies, or SWRL for variables and Horn clauses. The Rule Interchange Format (RIF) offers more expressive rules but is defined outside RDF and rarely adopted. For querying, SPARQL is a well-established standard operating directly on RDF triples.

Event-Condition-Action Rule Languages for the Semantic Web [PDF]

open access: closed, 2006
The Semantic Web is based on XML and RDF as its fundamental standards for exchanging and storing information on the World Wide Web. Event-condition-action (ECA) rules are a natural candidate for supporting reactive functionality on XML or RDF repositories.

Clinical Decision Support Rules in an Archetype-Based Health Record System : Combining Archetype Query Language (AQL) and Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL)

open access: green, 2009
By using archetypes, it is possible to define how data are stored in the EHR,which facilitates querying for data. The objective of this thesis is to investigate the possibility of connecting a decisionsupport system to archetype-based medical records by using the ArchetypeQuery Language (AQL) and the Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL).

SDQO AND SFO, ONTOLOGIES FOR SPATIAL DATA QUALITY ASSESSMENT [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2019
Spatial quality assessment is based on the conformance of data to its specifications or fitness for users’ purpose. These specifications and the users’ purposes include the rules and constraints that a dataset should comply with. Assessing the compliance

Knowledge Engineering for Hybrid Deductive Databases [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2017
Modern knowledge base systems frequently need to combine a collection of databases in different formats: e.g., relational databases, XML databases, rule bases, ontologies, etc.

A Design for Safety (DFS) Semantic Framework Development Based on Natural Language Processing (NLP) for Automated Compliance Checking Using BIM: The Case of China

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
For design for safety (DFS), automated compliance checking methods have received extensive attention. Although many research efforts have indicated the potential of BIM and ontology for automated compliance checking, an efficient methodology is still ...
